Alto Astral by Byredo is a luminous, deeply original floral aldehyde fragrance launched in 2025 and created by Jérôme Epinette — one of the most exciting and distinctive new additions to Byredo’s celebrated catalogue. “Alto Astral” is a Brazilian Portuguese expression meaning “good vibes” or “high spirits” — a state of elevated joy, lightness, and positive energy — and this fragrance captures that feeling with extraordinary precision and beauty. It opens with a strikingly original combination of coconut water and aldehydes — two notes that, together, create something genuinely unprecedented. Coconut water — light, slightly sweet, and deeply refreshing — gives the opening a tropical, almost aquatic brightness, while aldehydes — the sparkling, effervescent molecules that gave Chanel No.5 its legendary luminosity — lift the coconut into something radiant, almost otherworldly. The heart deepens with musk, jasmine, and incense — a beautifully unexpected combination of the skin-close and the sacred. The jasmine adds a heady, narcotic floral beauty; the incense a warm, resinous smokiness that grounds the brightness of the opening in something deeper and more contemplative; and the musk a soft, intimate warmth that makes the whole composition feel effortlessly wearable. The dry-down is warm, smooth, and deeply sophisticated: cashmeran, sandalwood, and amber creating a velvety, skin-close warmth that carries the fragrance beautifully through hours of wear.
